TRADITIONS

Itagi is a city that preserves its traditions. Our children follow the cultural learning of our people, keeping up folkloric and religious performances in the streets throughout the year on commemorative dates. It is beautiful to watch the traditional festivities in the streets; colors, music and lots of joy embellish the performances. Fanfare, Terno de Reis, Bumba meu boi, worship of São José, the city's patron saint, and planting and harvest festivals according to ancestral traditions are all possible experiences with our people.
Religious events are also a tradition in our city. Saint Joseph is worshiped on March 19th with a beautiful festival and street decorations with art and pilgrimages. In our city, Afro-Brazilian culture is also celebrated, as in all of Bahia, with celebrations of the orishas and offerings for prosperity and ascension. Similarly, Christians have a strong presence in the city, representing a fervent faith that brings the community into communion with Christ and brings strong work to rehabilitate souls.
